School Sponsorship Program

Applications must be received on or before October 1, 2025 by responding to this Google Form.

Eligible education agencies or organizations are school districts, Parent Teacher Student Associations, or education foundations in San Mateo County. 

Projects must include experiences and/or activities that address one or more of the sponsorship goals. Projects must be completed in the 2025-26 school year

1. Increase understanding of the causes of climate change. Increase understanding that the major sources of greenhouse gas emissions in San Mateo County are burning fossil fuels in buildings and for transportation
2. Increase understanding of local solutions to climate change, including the creation of WestLight Energy. Increase understanding of how to transition off of fossil fuels to fight climate change
3. Increase understanding of energy sources, including fossil fuels and renewable energy. Increase understanding of electricity sources in San Mateo County
4. Raise awareness of clean energy careers, especially electricians and other careers in the trades
5. Scale education around Goals 1-4 to multiple classrooms, schools, and/or school districts across multiple years

• Quality of proposed project to meet sponsorship goals and achieve measurable results
• Number of students and/or teachers reached
• Number of classrooms, schools, or school districts engaged
• Higher school or district need as reflected in the San Mateo County Equity Index

• Coordinate all-school assembly presentations to share information about climate change and energy with students. PCE can provide content and speakers
• Coordinate an event or project at school for students and/or the local community that discuss causes and solutions to climate change (i.e., school-wide Earth Day or Climate Week events) 
• Adapt existing curriculum to include concepts related to climate change and energy. Funding can include teacher planning time and materials
